Kane recently completed the Archerfield substation 10 weeks ahead of programme and defect free.
Energex awarded this project to Kane in March 2014 for the redevelopment of the existing Archerfield substation so that it complies with the Brisbane City Council’s Q200 flood level recommendations. The works incorporated multiple structures including a new control building as well as capacitor and transformer equipment platforms which will house both new and relocated equipment from the existing substation. Buildability challenges included the construction of the new control building and over 3000 metres of underground electrical conduits in close proximity to existing live high voltage cabling. Now complete, the redevelopment will benefit more than 500 homes and businesses in Archerfield and Rocklea.
Kane have now successfully delivered three Energex substations, with a further substation for Ergon underway currently.
