The trade training facility, forming part of Caloundra State School, was one of the first delivered under the Federal Government’s programmed rollout and has been received with such appreciation by the staff and students, it has become a model for future facilities. The complex included lecture rooms, various construction training areas, meeting rooms, offices and staff amenities, landscaping, carparking, a new link road and associated infrastructure.
The efficient, but striking design by Cottee Parker was delivered four weeks ahead of programme on budget and more importantly, meeting Client’s expectations.
An important criterion of the building was to implement Best Practice ESD principles and to utilise renewable resources and products. Site difficulties were overcome by reconfiguring existing overland storm water management through design and engineering. Disruptive parts of the works were programmed for out-of-hours periods to eliminate any inconvenience to the numerous stakeholders, students and the general public.
