Geelong community benefits from name the crane

26th October, 2020

Meet ‘Boomka’, the newly named crane located at the $100 million GMHBA Headquarters under construction in Geelong.

The crane was named by Northern Bay College kindergarten student Sunni following a ‘Name the Crane’ competition initiated by Kane, Quintessential Equity and GMHBA, which also included a $10,000 donation to Northern Bay College Early Learning Centre. ‘Boomka’ is a reference to the noise made by a crane.

“We are so grateful for the kindness and generosity of this donation which will allow us to enhance the outdoor learning areas with stimulating play equipment. This will benefit not only the current 2020 children who entered the competition, but also the future families in years to come,” says Scott Diamond, principal of Northern Bay College.

Works are progressing well at the site located at 60 Moorabool Street with the structure at Level 3 and fit-out works commencing in the basement levels. The office building designed by Cox Architecture is on target to be completed in mid-2021.
