Kane Constructions were appointed as Head Contractors to construct the new Childcare Centre for the Australian Nuclear Science Facility (ANSTO) at Lucas Heights.

The proposed building is a single storey child care facility, constructed of slab on ground, structural steel framing with a metal deck roof and external walls clad in both metal deck and timber wall cladding.

The key objectives of the ANSTO Childcare Project were to ensure, through successful delivery of the facility, that ANSTO can provide facilities and a working environment that will compliment and improve the:

- Attraction rates of high calibre staff from around the globe;
- Increase staff loyalty and satisfaction;
- Reduce work vs childcare conflicts for staff, thereby increasing productivity and staff morale;
- Attraction of parents, especially women, back into the workplace following maternity parental leave
