Austin Hospital Fire Upgrade

Kane Constructions was engaged in 2010 under a fixed price lump sum contract to deliver a fire upgrade across all three Austin Hospital campuses.

An audit of the existing fire safety systems across the three campuses found a number of areas were not meeting the Building Code of Australia requirements.

The Kane Project Team faced immense challenges in coordinating the works to minimise impact on hospital operations and working within a wide range of structures with original buildings at the main campus having been in operation since 1882.

The project came in under budget at $1.5 million and was delivered within a four month construction program.
