The project was delivered under a lump sum contract following a competitive select tender. Kane was shortlisted following an Expression of Interest phase due to our substantial experience in complex refurbishment projects and the recent, award winning success of the Restoration of Old Government House at QUT.
Stage 1 works include the installation of a new acoustic ceiling to the dome (the largest dome in the southern hemisphere) and the upgrade of fire services and accessibility to the dome void space. Other works include demolition to the existing art store in the basement, installation of the diesel fuel tank and concrete paving to the southwest light well, upgrade of the auditorium balcony seating area and sundry services, restoration and investigation works throughout the building.
