Completed in 2008 and delivered by fixed price lump sum contract, the $18m Cardinia-Casey Community Health Service is a 100-bed facility servicing the local community of Doveton.

Works involved the construction of a new aged care facility comprising 100 new bedrooms with ensuites, multiple common lounge areas, food servery kitchens, services areas, treatment rooms, hairdresser, staff amenities and office areas.

Externally, extensive landscaped areas have been segregated into zones to service specific wards. Rainwater is harvested from the substantial roof areas and stored in four 30,000 litre tanks for reuse to service the new facility.

A substantial retention system was installed to the northern boundaries of the site to allow for the sloping site to be cut prior to installation of the ground slabs.

Access to facilitate the works was highly restrictive and detailed staging was required to achieve the construction programme.

The Cardinia-Casey Community Health Service is one of many successful health sector facilities delivered by Kane Constructions in partnership with Aurecon and Tectura.
