Following the severe damage caused by the Victorian floods in 2011, the Victorian Department of Health announced a new location for the Charlton Hospital in northern Victoria. Kane Constructions was appointed under a lump sum contract in May 2013 to deliver the works.

The facility includes 15 beds (13 aged care and two acute), facilities for urgent care and primary care, a medical clinic, ambulance station, helipad and administration and support services. External courtyard areas will be set aside for aged care patients and those undergoing physio and rehabilitation.

Kane built temporary accommodation after the floods in 2011 and was also awarded the separate contract to demolish the old hospital. The new hospital design incorporates flood protection.

Construction on the $14 million hospital began in June 2013 and reached practical completion in November 2014.
