Ramsay Health Care engaged Kane to provide a completely new fitout to Operating Theatre 18 at Greenslopes Private Hospital. The initial works involved the provision of all relevant medical services and equipment to a new Theatre which would become a replica of Operating Theatre 17.
A key challenge was to ensure the building remained operational throughout the programme, and deliver as little impact as possible to its daily function. The works were carried out whilst the hospital and adjacent Operating Theatre were in frequent use, requiring weekly meetings to ensure the client representatives, staff, and patients received minimal, disruption to the flow of hospital operations.
Services to the Operating Theatre included hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, data and communications, dry fire services, fire sprinklers, nurse call, C-bus, security and medical gases. Kane’s design and construct involvement was about ensuring the accurate coordination of a large number of services, structural steel and architectural layouts with both the precise requirements of the specialist equipment for the space and the end user requirements.
This project was the third in a series of projects delivered for Ramsay Health Care in what has become a successful and collaborative working relationship.
