Kane Constructions was awarded Design & Construct contract in 2011 by Griffith University to refurbish the existing 25m pool and fitness centre as well as construct a new play pool (including water features and shade cover) and learn-to-swim pool.
During the initial phase, it was determined that rather than refurbish the existing pool, a completely new 25m pool could be constructed within the same budget. This included 9 lanes and disabled access. The pool was fully tiled and delivered to FINA standards.
Other areas included the construction of a new (disabled compliant) entry and kiosk, refurbishment of the existing Fitness Centre and a new roof to the previously exposed spectator's area.
