This $6 million lump sum contract was delivered in three consecutive stages whilst the existing aged care facility remained operational.
Stage 1 comprised a new build extension housing 58 beds with ensuites, a residents lounge, dining areas. Stage 2 involved the refurbishment of 16 existing bedrooms, the addition of seven new ensuites and a new administration area. Stage 3 commenced after existing residents were relocated into the new building delivered in Stage 1.
Stage 3 was a refurbishment of the existing commercial kitchen and laundry area along with a redevelopment of the Daycare Center. The commercial kitchen upgrade required a portable kitchen to be installed with temporary walkways and services to maintain meals throughout.
Working within an occupied site required clear communitcation and detailed planning. For example, works to the heating system were programmed to take place during the summer months so as heating could be maintained to residents throughout the winter months.
The project was completed in mid 2004.
