This retail project was delivered by fixed price lump contract following a competitive select tender process.
Works involved the conversion of an existing single level portal framed structure into a modern space to showcase the release of the new MINI. A new showroom was constructed at the front of the building with a service garage located at the rear.
The Kane Constructions scope required the complete demolition of the existing fitout including floor slabs and the front fade of the existing building. The existing structure was then extended with a new shopfront added along with new polished concrete floors.
Access was highly restrictive with the site located between to operational retail outlets and fronting a busy road with no setback. Significant additional scope was added to the contract late in program including the installation of a imported automatic car wash unit and the fitout of a reception area.
Despite the above, the $2m project was successfully delivered in mid-2002 to the satisfaction of the client.
