Kane Constructions was contracted to undertake this $1.0m project on a fixed price lump sum.

The works were undertaken in an existing community centre and involved the demolition of the existing roof over one part of the building and replacement with a new 2 storey space comprising on the ground floor refurbished meeting rooms, wet areas, after school care and foyer space and on the upper floor new open plan office space with workstations, new meeting rooms and storage spaces.

The contract also involved the installation of a disabled lift, architectural stairs, back entry stairs, and the painting and re carpeting of the existing child care. This involved relocating the child care centre for a period of 4 weeks; completing the works in this time and moving them back in.

A new mechanical system was set up in the new office area which included a timer control system which means the system is set on a timer and turns on and off at night meaning it isn’t left running while no one is occupying the building. All energy efficient lighting systems were installed and natural light was used in all possible circumstances.

Kane Constructions worked tirelessly to provide a practical, inexpensive, workable office, meeting and community space, through continuous consultation with the architect and client. The finished product is far beyond what the users expected and both they and the client were extremely happy with the end result.
