Major redevelopment and expansion of the existing Rochester and Elmore District Health Service hospital located over 200 kilometres north of Melbourne in regional Victoria.

Kane Constructions was engaged in 2007 under a lump sum contract. Works included new residential aged care beds, an acute care unit, an ambulatory care service (with an accident and emergency department) and a community health service including a medical clinic.

The single level, ESD designed building sits in context with the surrounding location and integrates with the existing hostel. The new facilities were progressively constructed in stages to allow for normal operations of the health service to continue without interruption.

Detailed planning and close liaison with the facility engineer ensured construction works did not negatively impact on hospital operations.

The project was completed over a 30 month period due to the staging requirements.
