This award winning two level office building is located in Southbank at the entrance to the Burnley Tunnel.

Completed in late 2002, the new facility for the State Emergency Services was awarded the 2004 Sustainable Architecture Award by the Australian Institute of Architects.

The building is the new headquarters for the SES and provides educational, operational, training and administration spaces for staff.

The project was conceived by the Department of Justice to be a benchmark facility for sustainable design, OH&S and disability access. Consequently, the building has a strong focus on energy management with the incorporation of passive and active environmental design responses for venting and lighting.

The end result provides a progressive, friendly and healthy workspace.

The $5m project was successfully delivered via a lump sum contract within a 10 month construction period despite a contaminated site with highly restrictive access.
