This $14m aquatic centre was constructed in two stages during 2007 and 2008 delivered by a fixed price lump sum contract.

The initial $10m contract included the demolition of existing external pools, construction of a new two level Swim Centre building including a 25-metre indoor program pool, children's beach pool, spa, administration offices, change rooms, crèche, cafeteria, gymnasium and program rooms.

Further scope involved the replacement of the existing pool hall roof as a result of significant corrosion by constructing a new roof on the existing structural beams.

Civil works including road basing and asphalting to the new carpark area, surrounding paving and rubber soft fall material to crèche outdoor play area.

Kane Constructions subsequently negotiated a second $4m contract to install an outdoor legacy pool.

Despite initial protest, the local community now enjoys a first class aquatic facility that far eclipses the original pool.
