This innovative $7 million project was delivered in two stages. The philosophy behind the design was "recycle and re-use". Rope textured walls; playground equipment carved out of trees from the park, organically positioned rock boulders, corrugated and perforated metal ceilings, procurement and installation of playground equipment, recycled concrete used for all structural elements and paths.

The upgrade consisted of major soft and hard landscaping works along with the construction of new amenities blocks, shade structures, barbeque areas, extensive in-ground services for current and future works, an eco friendly water cycle management system, play areas and playground equipment, civil works, vehicle and pedestrian bridges, detailed precast concrete.

The water cycle management system and use of solar panels will ensure value for money in the long run and also set the tone for future designers undertaking similar projects.

Communication with suppliers and the client was essential in keeping delivery dates in line with the program. Procuring the corrugated and perforated metal ceiling was a challenge to produce but after many design proposals and test samples the project team was able to achieve the desired outcome for the Architect.

Other works involved more parking faciities and new event spaces.
