Aquanation officially opened to the public on Monday 17 August 2015. The $50 million facility located in Ringwood, Victoria features a 66.5 metre 10 lane pool and diving facilities, a warm water pool, a dedicated learn to swim pool, large toddler and children’s leisure play pool, a large gym with three separate group fitness rooms, child care facilities and a café.
The diving facilities are built to FINA standards. The unique twin booms ensure the pool can cater for different water spaces including lap swimming, swimming carnivals, club training and competition, diving, water polo and other programmed activities.
The dry diving facilities are unique in Australia, and allow for more effective training routines and provide divers, from beginner to elite, the ability to perfect their technique in a more controlled environment.
With a regional catchment of more than one million people, it is expected that Aquanation will have more than 800,000 visitations per year and will cater for people of all ages – from water play for babies and toddlers to dedicated activities for older adults.
Kane have completed over 14 aquatic projects over the past 10 years and have been invited to tender on every major aquatic centre in Victoria for the past 9 years. We have successfully delivered a large number both in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
The Kane team worked closely with Maroondah City Council and the design team was led by Peddle Thorp Architects to ensure a high quality outcome.
Previous aquatic centres delivered with Peddle Thorp include the $12M Harold Holt Pool Redevelopment, $14M Sunshine Aquatic Centre and the $4M Kardinia Aquatic Centre.
Kane have also recently completed the $16M Brunswick Baths Redevelopment and the $18M Noble Park Aquatic Centre projects with Davis Langdon.
Kane thoroughly enjoyed working with our client, key stakeholders and key consultants including Waterman AHW, Slattery Australia, Bonacci Group and Hydrautech to deliver this exciting project.
The project was delivered on time and within the clients budget and the outcome is a fantastic new facility for the local community.
The handover was a great success.
