Kane secures contract to deliver Queenscliff Searoad Ferries Terminal Building

27th May, 2021

Kane Constructions has been appointed to deliver the new $16 million world-class ferry terminal building at Queenscliff.

The development of the Searoad Ferries Terminal consists of the demolition of the existing terminal building, and construction of a new building across two floors with a feature stainless steel façade, ticketing and retail area, toilets, kitchens, café, bar, and passenger lounge.

The new building will provide local commuters, day-trippers and international tourists an architecturally designed experience as they embark across Port Phillip Bay.

A key architectural feature of the new building is the curved roof providing weather protection for passengers boarding or disembarking across all seasons.

“The proposal offers significant benefits including better safety and pedestrian access to the pier, hundreds of new jobs in the construction phase, and a major economic boost for the region.” Searoad Ferries CEO Matt McDonald

Last year Searoad Ferries transported more than 800,000 people and 200,000 vehicles across the bay.

Designed by F2 Architecture, the project is due for Practical Completion in October 2022.
