Kane Constructions is proud to be recognised at the 2025 Master Builders Victoria Excellence in Construction Awards, taking home top honours in the Commercial Buildings Over $80M category for the Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre.
Delivered for Alfred Health in collaboration with Lyons Architecture, the $100M+ facility sets a new benchmark in complex healthcare infrastructure.
Located in the heart of Melbourne’s medical precinct, the six-storey centre brings together high-specification clinical spaces, PC2-certified laboratories, and patient-focused environments. The Kane team delivered a series of technical innovations, including prefabricated construction and advanced 3D modelling to meet complex compliance standards.
A standout architectural feature of the building is its striking curved glass façade, designed to evoke the appearance of human skin. Achieving this vision required full-scale prototype testing and bespoke installation methods, representing a significant engineering achievement.
Beyond construction, Kane extended the project’s purpose through a partnership with SunSmart, launching a melanoma awareness initiative that provided free skin checks and education to all site personnel. The program led to the early detection of potential melanoma cases, delivering genuine, life-saving outcomes.
