Kane Constructions successfully completed the Cowper Street Social Housing Redevelopment in Glebe for the NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC), delivering high-quality new social housing in Sydney’s inner west.
The eight-storey renewal project comprises three studio apartments, 40 one-bedroom apartments and 27 two-bedroom apartments, along with five three-bedroom terrace homes designed for larger families.
The development includes north and south residential buildings constructed using Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and precast concrete, incorporating contemporary construction methods to deliver a high-quality and environmentally responsible outcome.
Sustainability was a key focus throughout the project, with the social housing dwellings designed to achieve 5 Star Green Star and NatHERS ratings. Green roofs, extensive landscaping and sustainable building initiatives have also been incorporated to help minimise the development’s environmental footprint.
The project also supported more than 250 jobs throughout its delivery and the redevelopment provides new homes for approximately 130 social housing residents while contributing to the ongoing renewal of the Glebe community.
