Kane Constructions was awarded the $16 million contract to deliver the Department of Defence Joint Health Command Simpson Health Centre in the last quarter of 2019.
The new health centre will be constructed on a sloped site adjacent to the existing Simpson Health Centre. The existing Health Centre will be demolished, and converted into a car park, upon completion and transition into the new facility.
During the works, a portion of the existing facility will be required to be demolished, while maintaining operations to the remainder of the facility, to allow for construction of the new facility.
The single storey building is approximately 1,600m2 and will be a steel framed structure with a steel roof and will include services and finishes typical of modern health facilities. It will include functional areas for:
- Central core, entry/reception
- Primary care
- Mental health
- Supply and environmental services
- Dental services
The project aims to provide fit-for-purpose, contemporary health care facilities as part of a comprehensive infrastructure solution intended to address deficiencies around condition and functionality of priority Joint Health Command facilities, providing primary health and associated health care to Australian Defence Force personnel around Australia.
The project is set for completion in the second quarter of 2021.
