Kane Constructions was awarded the $16 million contract to deliver the Department of Defence Joint Health Command Simpson Health Centre in the last quarter of 2019.

The new health centre was constructed on a sloped site adjacent to the existing Simpson Health Centre. The existing Health Centre was demolished and converted into a car park upon completion and transition into the new facility.

During the works, a portion of the existing facility was required to be demolished, while maintaining operations to the remainder of the facility to allow for construction of the new facility.

The single storey building is approximately 1,600m2 with a steel framed structure, a steel roof and includes services and finishes typical of modern health facilities.

Scope included:

  • Central core, entry/reception
  • Administration
  • Primary care
  • Mental health
  • Physiotherapy
  • Supply and environmental services
  • Dental services
  • Pharmacy
  • Headquarters

The facility provides a fit-for-purpose, contemporary health care facilities as part of a comprehensive infrastructure solution intended to address deficiencies around condition and functionality of priority Joint Health Command facilities, providing primary health and associated health care to Australian Defence Force personnel around Australia.

The project reached Practical Completion in early 2022.
