A site with a significant history in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, the square redevelopment project was the subject of a design competition that was won by Urbis.

The design consisted of a new amphitheatre, recycled water feature, observation deck and restaurant shell. With an extremely complicated design, a full time surveyor was employed to digitally map the entire site to ensure the formed steps of the amphitheatre and Grand Ramp were set out correctly to suit stone that was manufactured from CAD drawings.

A significant level of public interface was required as access through the site for the public was maintained for the entire duration of the works, and the site was located over an active and fully functioning public carpark.
