Kane Constructions was engaged by the Department of Education to deliver a new multipurpose hall within the existing Mansfield State High School.

Delivered under a Design and Construct contract, the project comprised the construction of two sports courts, amenities, learning areas, kiosk kitchen and storage spaces.

Kane utilised innovative building techniques on this project, including the implementation of CSR ECO8 complete board in lieu of fibre cement sheeting. CSR ECO8 is made from recycled material and was utilised as it matched the impact resistance of fibre cement sheeting, and the required fire and acoustic characteristics.

A key challenge on this project consisted of the conventional slab flooring not meeting the requirements. The vinyl flooring could not take on the construction joints in the slab on ground. Upon investigation of alternative products, Kane proposed the use of a joint free slab to resolve this issue, which proved to be a faster solution for the slab preparation.

Kane added value to this project by providing the client with significant cost savings and accelerated program in various areas of the build.

The official opening was held in late October 2018.
