Kane Constructions was awarded the Design and Construct contract to deliver a new two storey classroom building, within the existing and operational Narangba Valley State School in December 2017.

The new block is the first two storey building within the school, and contains four classrooms, outdoor learning areas, a practical learning area, amenities, passenger lift, staff room with kitchen facilities, and a large undercroft area for future expansion.

Given the school did not have immediate funding for the provision of air conditioning, Kane ensured that the building was future-proofed for when these works will take place. From the outset, Kane have provided appropriate drainage for air conditioning throughout the building and were ultimately able to save the client money in the long term and avoid any unnecessary re-works.

Kane incorporated the school’s resident groundsmen in the design process for the landscaped areas. Having the knowledge and experience of working within the live school environment, their team was able to provide guidance on sustainable solutions to ensure the life cycle of the products utilised were suitable for the school.

The Narangba Valley State High School, staff and students were impressed with the end result, and the new block is a standout feature of the school.
