The expansion project focuses on the transformation of a shell space on Level 5 into a state-of-the-art 30-bed paediatric inpatient ward, covering approximately 1,825 square meters.
In addition to the inpatient ward, the project includes a significant upgrade to the Emergency Department, which will includes:
- 20 new points of care
- 10 additional treatment bays
- Two new resuscitation cubicles
- Eight additional short stay beds
Furthermore, the existing emergency department will be refurbished and reconfigured to optimise alignment with the latest model of care.
This comprehensive expansion will enable the Royal Children’s Hospital to accommodate increasing patient demand by providing more acute paediatric beds and enhanced emergency services.
