Ballarat Major Events Precinct

Winner

Excellence in Health and Safety

Being delivered by the Kane Nicholson Joint Venture within an active sporting and community precinct, the Ballarat Major Events Precinct project involves the redevelopment and expansion of key facilities to support major events and community use.

The works include new grandstands, upgraded sporting infrastructure and extensive civil and landscaping works.

The project has a strong focus on planning, coordination and risk management underpinning its delivery. All high-risk activities are being carefully managed through detailed methodologies and collaborative engagement across all stakeholders.

Safety in design principles, combined with proactive site management and clear communication, have ensured that risks are identified early and controlled effectively throughout the project lifecycle. Through a disciplined and integrated approach, we are maintaining a high standard of safety performance on this live project.

We thank our team and project delivery partners for their ongoing collaboration and commitment to achieving strong safety outcomes.

St Vincent's Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD)

Winner

Excellence in Construction of Commercial Buildings Over $100M

The project involved the demolition of an existing building and build of a new multi-storey facility integrated within the existing hospital campus, delivering world-class laboratories, research spaces and collaborative environments supported by highly specialised building services.

Delivered in a constrained, operational hospital setting, the works required meticulous planning, staging and coordination to maintain continuity of critical hospital services while managing complex structural interfaces and service integration.

Through strong leadership, innovation and a disciplined delivery approach, Kane successfully delivered a technically complex facility that supports cutting-edge medical research and future healthcare innovation.

We thank St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and our project partners for their collaboration throughout.

Royal Dental Hospital, Melbourne, Ground Floor Remodelling

Special Commendation

Excellence in Fitout $5M-$10M

Delivered within one of Victoria’s busiest public health facilities, the project involved the staged refurbishment of the hospital’s ground floor entrance, foyer and associated public and non-clinical spaces.

The works created a new primary entrance, reconfigured circulation and waiting areas, information desks, staff facilities, patient interview rooms and consulting spaces, supported by significant upgrades to fire, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, security, communications and accessibility systems. Careful staging and temporary access arrangements allowed the hospital to remain fully operational throughout construction, with patient arrivals, emergency services and staff movements maintained at all times.

The new entrance and public spaces feature curved precast concrete, curved glazing, bespoke acoustic ceilings, timber finishes and integrated landscaping, creating a calmer and more welcoming environment for patients and visitors.

We thank Oral Health Victoria, Paul Morgan Architects, Zilka Studio, our project team and delivery partners for their collaboration, trust and shared commitment throughout the successful delivery of this project.
