Kane Constructions is proud to have been awarded the $55 million Melbourne Grammar School Centre for Humanities project, a landmark development set to enrich the School’s academic and cultural life for generations to come.
Construction commenced in 2024 following extensive research, consultation and planning. The Centre for Humanities will create a dynamic environment dedicated to the study of Literature, History, Philosophy, English, Politics, Media, Legal Studies and other related disciplines. Designed to inspire both students and teachers, the new facility will foster intellectual curiosity, a passion for lifelong learning and the exploration of cultural and spiritual ideas.
Scheduled for completion in late 2026, the Centre for Humanities will integrate seamlessly with Melbourne Grammar School’s heritage architecture, carefully preserving the Main Oval footprint while delivering modern, flexible learning spaces. The building will offer twenty new contemporary classrooms, a new amphitheatre for up to 220 people, extensive individual and group study areas, and new House and locker facilities for Creese, Deakin and Witherby Houses. Staff will benefit from purpose-designed offices and amenities, while students will enjoy upgraded toilet and change room facilities alongside landscaped recreation spaces.
Sustainability has been embedded into the design, with the building targeting five-star and six-star environmental ratings. A strong emphasis will be placed on the responsible use of energy, water and resources, supporting Melbourne Grammar School’s commitment to setting an example for future generations.
Kane Constructions is honoured to be delivering this important project and looks forward to contributing to the legacy of excellence at Melbourne Grammar School.
