Kane Constructions VIC is proud to celebrate a significant milestone in the Twelve Apostles Precinct Redevelopment project. Last month, the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos visited the site to mark the topping out of the new Visitor Experience Centre a key moment in the transformation of one of Victoria’s most iconic destinations.
Regional Collaboration at the Core
This achievement reflects months of collaboration with regional partners, led by Otway Precast(Colac) and Plinius Engineering (Ballarat). Their expertise in concrete and steel works has helped shape the structure of the new centre.
Local Investment & Engagement Highlights
The project is deeply rooted in supporting regional communities and businesses. Key highlights include:
- 15% of total project spend to date has been directed to Western District suppliers, boosting local employment and capability.
- Engagement of over 20 Aboriginal businesses and social enterprises, with 85% of our Indigenous spend commitment already realised. Current partners include BA Roads, Facadex, Dardi Traffic & Labour, Pathway Plumbing, and Wamarra Waste.
Community Engagement Initiatives
Kane Constructions actively participates in quarterly community updates alongside Development Victoria and Emergency Services. The team also joined the Neil Porter Legacy’s Koorie Careers Day in Warrnambool, inspiring young indigenous people to explore careers in construction.
Innovative Construction Techniques
The redevelopment showcases environmentally conscious design and regional craftsmanship, including Rammed earth walls constructed by specialist subcontractor Earth Structures, highlighting sustainable building practices.
Stunning drone footage has documented the project’s evolution, from the completed concrete structure to the installation of rammed earth walls and external civil works.
Project Leadership
“This redevelopment is more than just bricks and mortar, it’s about fostering lasting cultural, community, and environmental impact,” Sam Birdseye, Project Director, Kane Constructions
