The Henson Park Upgrade was officially celebrated last weekend, marking the completion of a significant transformation for Sydney’s Inner West community.
The Grand Opening event was attended by the Honourable Anthony Albanese, alongside community representatives and project stakeholders. The occasion featured both a NSW Cup trial match and a National Rugby League trial match, showcasing the upgraded facilities and bringing the community together to enjoy live sport in a revitalised venue.
Delivered by Kane Constructions in partnership with Inner West Council, AFL NSW/ACT and RP Infrastructure, the project enhances Henson Park’s capacity as a premier sporting and community destination.
The upgraded venue provides modern, fit-for-purpose amenities designed to support both elite and grassroots sport. Importantly, the facility will serve as a home ground for AFLW women’s teams, strengthening pathways and opportunities within the sport, while also offering a versatile space for broader community use and events.
The completion of the Henson Park Upgrade reflects a strong collaborative effort between all project partners and reinforces a shared commitment to delivering high-quality community infrastructure that supports participation, inclusivity and local engagement.
