Huntley Street Recreation Centre project progresses towards completion

23rd April, 2026

Construction is progressing well at the Huntley Street Recreation Centre for the City of Sydney, with the project now moving steadily into its final stages.

Designed by Collins and Turner and located in Alexandria, the development is transforming a former warehouse building into a vibrant multi-purpose indoor sports and recreation facility designed to serve the surrounding community. Once complete, the centre will provide a modern and flexible space supporting a range of recreational activities and local programs.

Significant progress has been achieved across several key areas of the project in recent weeks. Installation of the sports flooring is now underway, marking an important step towards preparing the main activity spaces for use. The awning beam structure has been successfully installed and is currently receiving its final paint finish, helping to define the external architectural elements of the building.

External landscape works have also commenced, shaping the surrounding public realm and improving connectivity with the local streetscape. Internally, the project team continues to make strong progress with the fit-out, with joinery, building services and amenities installations coming together as the facility takes its final form.

With construction advancing across multiple fronts, the Huntley Street Recreation Centre is rapidly approaching completion. The project represents another important community facility for the City of Sydney, and a strong collaborative effort from the project team and delivery partners.
