Kane Constructions (QLD) was engaged by Logan City Council to deliver the new Cronulla Park Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) facility in Slacks Creek, Brisbane under a Lump Sum contract.

The facility forms part of the proposed master plan for the Cronulla Park Redevelopment.

The construction works included the base build, fit out, and all associated infrastructure works. The new facility includes a gymnastics hall, health and fitness spaces, an administration area, and associated amenities.

During bulk earthworks, significant areas of uncontrolled and unsuitable fill material were discovered as the site was previously used as a rubbish tip.

The existing geotechnical report prepared for the site stated that all uncontrolled and unsuitable fill material must be removed from the site and replaced. Kane worked with the project geotechnical engineers and earthworks subcontractors to gain approval to only remove the material to a certain depth as well as permission to re-condition and reuse a large amount of the uncontrolled material. This saved both money and time for Kane and Logan City Council.

Kane maintained a successful and collaborative relationship with Logan City Council. Site meetings were conducted fortnightly and project bulletins were issued weekly.

The project reached completion in July 2021.
