Kane Constructions was appointed to deliver the Crowne Plaza Melbourne Refurbishment Stage 2 Project, following the successful completion of Stage 1 by Kane's fit-out and refurbishment division arete Australia in 2018.

This project was split over 22 stages and was delivered whilst the hotel remained fully operational.

With Stage 1 having refurbished the existing hotel rooms, Stage 2 focused on significant refurbishment works to the function spaces of the hotel.

Stage 2 included a new function dining space for 350 people with pre-function lounge areas, two commercial kitchens, a restaurant, a bar and a café.

Additional works included significant refurbishment to the three-level atrium, removal and replacement of four escalators, new collaborative workspaces, 30 additional guest rooms, new port cochere, significant refurbishment to the existing entry with reception, guest gym, refurbished outdoor pool area, executive offices, engineering workshops and back of house support areas.

Kane worked closely with hotel operations to deliver and construct the new hotel guestrooms suspended over the existing horseshoe driveway. The use of driveway portions was coordinated daily to allow continuity of hotel operations.

This project reached Practical Completion in the third quarter of 2020.
