Kane Constructions were awarded the Deakin University Fire Main Upgrade - Stage 2 project in October 2017.
The scope of works included:
- Extension of the site fire service ring main to circle the Burwood Road site and connect to the Ring Main already installed
- Traffic management
- Detailed survey of the proposed route, and all services marked and located before excavation or boring
- Pressure control valves on sprinkler connections to limit pressure to 1200kPa for both Central Precinct and Building P
- Blanked branches for future extension
- Valved branches for future extension
- Cable tracing of new pipe
- Connection of existing fire services to the new fire main and boosters removed for both Central Precinct and Building P
- Pressure and flow tests to the installation and demonstrate code compliance
- Pressure test the complete installation to 1,700kPa (new and existing)
Kane completed the Deakin University Fire Main Upgrade - Stage 1 project in September 2017.
This Stage 2 project reached Practical Completion in the third quarter of 2018.
