Kane Constructions has been recognised at both State and National level in the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) Professional Excellence Awards, celebrating the outstanding work of our project teams across a diverse range of projects and categories.

Following success at the State awards, Kane went on to receive multiple honours at the 2026 National Professional Excellence Awards, recognising excellence in construction, leadership and project delivery.

National Professional Excellence Award Winner, Commercial Construction $2m–$25m

Victorian Professional Excellence Award Winner, Commercial Construction $2m-$25m

Ross’s leadership on the Geelong Law Courts Specialist Family Violence Court Redevelopment earned him both the Australian Institute of Building Victorian and National Professional Excellence Awards in the Commercial Construction $2 million–$25 million category.

Delivered within an active justice precinct, the project required detailed planning, secure staging and close coordination with operational stakeholders. Ross successfully managed the project’s complexity, risk and stakeholder requirements, while contractor-led Design and Construct elements for the façade and piling packages supported practical innovation, cost control and delivery certainty.

National Professional Excellence Award Winner, Commercial Construction $60m+

Victorian Professional Excellence Award Winner, Commercial Construction $60m+

Brendan received both the Australian Institute of Building Victorian and National Professional Excellence Awards for his leadership on the St Vincent's Private Hospital Fitzroy Main Works project in the Commercial Construction $60 million+ category. Delivered within a live hospital environment, one of the project's greatest technical achievements was the successful delivery of more than 25 carefully sequenced construction stages, allowing new clinical facilities, heritage restoration works and major refurbishment to proceed while maintaining uninterrupted hospital operations.

Delivered across multiple stages by a number of project managers, Brendan played a key leadership role in the successful delivery of his stage of the works, working collaboratively to manage critical service interfaces, stakeholder coordination and the complex challenges of constructing within a fully operational hospital.

Jamie Rigg | The Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery

Celebrating excellence at 2026 Australian Institute of Building Awards

Victorian Professional Excellence, High Commendation, Commercial Construction $60m+

Jamie received a High Commendation in the Australian Institute of Building Victorian Professional Excellence Awards for his leadership on The Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery. One of the project's defining construction achievements was the delivery of the striking feature staircase, requiring intricate structural coordination, bespoke fabrication and exceptional installation precision within a highly serviced building.

Combined with the delivery of complex laboratory, clinical and research spaces, Jamie successfully led the construction of one of Australia's most technically sophisticated biomedical facilities.

Chris Chau received Australian Institute of Building Professional Excellence Awards at both NSW and National level for his leadership on The Children's Hospital at Westmead Stage 2 Car Park project. At the NSW awards, Chris was recognised in both the Commercial Construction $25–$60 million and Sustainability categories, before going on to receive the National Professional Excellence Award in the Commercial Construction $25–$60 million category.

Successfully delivering a complex project within a live healthcare environment, Chris demonstrated a strong commitment to collaboration, innovation and sustainable construction practices, achieving outstanding outcomes for the client while setting a high standard for project delivery.

NSW Professional Excellence, Winner, Commercial Construction $25m–$60m

Nathan Parris was named the winner of the Australian Institute of Building NSW Professional Excellence Award and received a National Professional Excellence, High Commendation, in the Commercial Construction $25 million–$60 million category for his outstanding leadership in delivering the Parramatta National Rugby League Centre of Excellence and Community Facility.

His collaborative approach, commitment to quality and ability to build strong relationships with the client, consultants and project team were instrumental in successfully delivering this landmark sporting and community facility, making him a worthy recipient of this prestigious award.

David Purcell | Swinburne University Building 27J Latelab

National Professional Excellence Award, Winner, Adaptive Reuse Award Over $2m

Victorian Professional Excellence Award, Winner, Adaptive Reuse Award Over $2m

David received both the Australian Institute of Building Victorian and National Professional Excellence Awards in the Adaptive Reuse Over $2 million category for his leadership on Swinburne University Building 27J Latelab.

Rather than demolishing and rebuilding, the project retained and transformed the existing structure through carefully staged adaptive reuse, introducing new light wells, a feature stair, façade upgrades and complete services renewal while the surrounding campus remained operational.

David's ability to deliver a technically complex refurbishment while significantly reducing embodied carbon was a defining achievement of the project.

Gabriel Faris | Royal Dental Hospital Melbourne Lobby Refurbishment

National Professional Excellence, High Commendation, Interior Construction

Victorian Professional Excellence Award, Winner, Interior Construction

Gabriel was named Winner of the Australian Institute of Building Victorian Professional Excellence Award and received a National Professional Excellence, High Commendation, in the Interior Construction category for his leadership on the Royal Dental Hospital Melbourne Lobby Refurbishment.

A defining feature of the project was the delivery of bespoke architectural interiors, including curved elements, custom joinery and high-quality finishes, all constructed to meet the strict infection control, acoustic and performance requirements of a fully operational healthcare facility.

Combined with the careful staging of works and construction of a new public entry within one of Melbourne's busiest inner-city precincts, Gabriel successfully delivered a technically complex project while maintaining uninterrupted hospital operations.
