Kane appointed to deliver Stage Two at Wurdi Baierr Aquatic and Recreation Centre

24th July, 2025

Kane Constructions has been selected to deliver Stage Two of the Wurdi Baierr Aquatic and Recreation Centre in Torquay, marking another important milestone for this major community project.

Stage Two will introduce a range of new facilities including a dedicated learn-to-swim pool, an indoor splash park, spa, sauna and steam rooms, additional change rooms, expanded spectator seating, storage spaces, landscaping and more car parking. These works will enhance the centre’s capacity to support water-safety education, year-round physical activity and programs that benefit both physical and mental wellbeing.

The Wurdi Baierr Aquatic and Recreation Centre will share its entry with the existing Wurdi Baierr Indoor Stadium. In the local Wadawurrung language, Wurdi Baierr means ‘big gathering place’, reflecting the centre’s role as a hub for sport, health and community connection.

Stage One works are already progressing and include a 25-metre lap and squad swimming pool, a warm water pool for exercise and hydrotherapy, a gym, program spaces, allied health suites and a café. Construction of both stages is expected to be complete in late 2026.

Kane Constructions is proud to continue its partnership with the Surf Coast Shire and the Victorian Government in delivering this state-of-the-art community facility, designed to support the long-term health and wellbeing of the growing Surf Coast region.
