Kane Constructions has been appointed by the City of Monash to deliver the $87 million Glen Waverley Civic Precinct Project, transforming the heart of Glen Waverley into a contemporary civic, cultural and community destination.
Located within the busy Glen Waverley Activity Centre, the project will deliver a new library, civic hall, flexible community and event spaces, council office accommodation and landscaped public areas, creating a welcoming precinct designed to bring people together.
The redevelopment forms part of Council's broader vision to revitalise Glen Waverley's civic heart and support the needs of its growing community, particularly as the area prepares for future development associated with the Suburban Rail Loop.
Delivered under a Design and Construct contract, the project involves working within an active urban environment, with careful coordination required to maintain access to surrounding businesses, council facilities and pedestrian areas throughout construction.
Site establishment commenced in August 2026, with demolition of the existing library now underway, marking an important milestone in the precinct's transformation.
Once complete, the new facilities will provide modern, adaptable spaces for learning, creativity, community events and everyday connection, strengthening Glen Waverley as a destination for residents and visitors.
Construction is scheduled for completion in July 2028.
