Kane delivering Glen Waverley's new civic precinct

26th October, 2026

Kane Constructions joined the City of Monash and project stakeholders today for the official sod turning ceremony at the Glen Waverley Civic Precinct Project, marking an important milestone in the delivery of the $110 million redevelopment.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor Cr Stuart James (Warrigal Ward), Deputy Mayor Cr Elisha Lee (Jells Ward), Cr Rebecca Patterson (Blackburn Ward), Cr Josh Fergeus (University Ward) and John Mullahy MP (Member for Glen Waverley), alongside representatives from the City of Monash, Kane Constructions and the project team.

Appointed by the City of Monash to deliver the project, Kane is transforming the heart of Glen Waverley into a contemporary civic, cultural and community destination.

Located within the busy Glen Waverley activity centre, the project will deliver a new contemporary library, civic hall, flexible community and event spaces, council office accommodation and landscaped public areas, creating a welcoming precinct designed to bring people together.

The redevelopment forms part of Council's broader vision to revitalise Monash's civic heart and support the needs of its growing community, particularly as the area prepares for future development associated with the Suburban Rail Loop.

Delivered under a Design and Construct contract, the project involves working within an active urban environment, with careful coordination required to maintain access to surrounding businesses, council facilities and pedestrian areas throughout construction.

Site establishment commenced in August 2026, with demolition works progressing ahead of the next stages of construction.

Once complete, the new facilities will provide a new contemporary library with modern, adaptable spaces for learning and creativity with flexible community and events spaces for the community to enjoy.

Construction is scheduled for completion in July 2028.
